CTA everywhere!

I've been attending a lot of Darkeshi CTAs. HUBAZ (our Hungarian corp) has just recently joined Kadeshi so the guys are still in the process of moving their assets. However, we want to make a good impression and show up in good numbers.

We are a quite small corp with 91 members. Given that EVE is a game of alts, the true player count, I would say is around 15-20. There where CTAs where we had 11 chars in fleet. 9 players + 2 dual boxing dreads. We were the corp with the most members on the CTA! Attendance is really important, supposedly, corps are going to get rewards from alliance leadership based on their numbers on the current CTAs. Let's make HUBAZ rich!

I'm feeling that I enjoy this "content on demand" thing! During evenings there are always CTAs or at least a roam to go to. I'm logged in to Jabber and when pings come I log and pew-pew :)

I still haven't started up trading again... but still have around 10Bn in reserves which will last me some time. I've ships for all the CTA doctrines. We've SRP but it's only the hull + subsystems, however I've got a 800MM Proteus (and that's not even the doctrine's shiny fit) so I'm a bit afraid of loosing it!

Mostly the fleets are either POS bashes or escort fleets, but sometimes we get really nice (which I enjoy the most). Freaking Russian always bring fights! :)

Just a short post for a Saturday lonely evening!
The above seems like more of a "ramblings"thing, but I would like to have posts concentrating more on one topic :)

This is a come back!

Hope you all thought that I quit and left without a goodbye! That is not the case!

I last posted right before my GF went away for a 2 week business trip to NY which was at the end of June and 5 months have passed since then!

In my personal life nothing big has changed. I finally got the PC fixed and now I can dual box like a boss! (tl dr: I haven't killed anyone yet while duel boxing! Challenge accepted though!)  Also few new guys joined the firm and get me hooked in 9GAG, which is the biggest time since ever! :)

Big stuff has happened in EVE though and here is a quick list:
- Rejoined the 0.0 Hungarian alliance --> GrrrGroons!
- Started attending CTAs
- Got bridged by a Titan
- Phoebe hit, we had to move from our little pocket in Immeansea!
- My alt char successfully ratted in a carrier (Archon)
- Decided never to do PvE activites in EVE again, because they are not worth my time.
- Trade empire is strong: 6.5Bn record profit in October (taking a break from trading in November though)
- In the process of selling off my BPO collection (all rigs + 4 capital component BPOs). Won't ever do manufacturing again.
- Set up 8x2 cruiser BPO researches at a -30% time station in 0.0 (praying for no invasions)
- Thanks to the new invention changes I'm having a go at T2 cruiser mass inventing. (12 day cycles are bearable)
- Lost my pod previously used for exploration (Wasn't mad though)

I'm sure the above list is not complete and a lot of cool stuff has happened to me during the last 5 months. I had a though about it and I don't want to go back are write about my past stories. I want to keep the blog up to date and post about new stuff. Wanted to write about the past just usually makes me crazy :)

Hopefully I'll write soon again! Fly on!

Delayed

This is the Wednesday evening post which is posted on Thursday before I go to work!

My PC was being "healed" during the week so didn't get much EVE time.
Even worse: the PC is still crap and crashes when I play on two monitors (run two clients)
I'm going to take it to an other repair store but I don't have time this week...
To say the least, I was pretty pissed!

Just an update! Heading in to work soon :)

I've got an ISK/hour project in my head: I want to test most of the ISK generating activities and write a guide/log about them!

Incursion Fleets

Friday evening, home alone, basic Logi skills completed, Kebab consumed: Incursion time has come!

I needed to buy a Basilisks but didn't want to waste time getting it rigged for the T2 shield rigs, so brought one of a contract in Jita. Fitted it up as the standard WTM fit.

This is the screenshot in EFT using my skills:

I've got the show module skill open to indicate how much each remote rep heals

And the EFT format:
[Basilisk, WTM Basilisk Standard]
Damage Control II
True Sansha Power Diagnostic System

Republic Fleet Large Shield Extender
Federation Navy 10MN Afterburner
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Pithum C-Type EM Ward Amplifier

Large Remote Shield Booster II
Large Remote Shield Booster II
Large Remote Shield Booster II
Large Remote Shield Booster II
Large 'Regard' Remote Capacitor Transmitter
Large 'Regard' Remote Capacitor Transmitter

Medium Ancillary Current Router II
Medium Core Defense Field Extender II

Light Armor Maintenance Bot I x5
Nanite Repair Paste x200

While assembling the ship I checked WTM and TVP to see where the queue is smaller for Logi. WTM seems to be looking for logi, while TVP had 5-6 on their waist list (WL). So I started burning to WTM's dockup system. 20 extremely long jumps later (Logis are slow for my taste!) I arrive, dock and X up in the channel.

At first I add "noob incursions" to my text. But after ~45 minutes of waiting I just simply type "X Basi Lvl4 4-2" in chat. With the whole text being a link to my fit.

Suddenly I get a fleet invite! I accept and start figuring out whats going on. I know I have to join TS, so I quickly try to get it sorted :) The fleet MOTD says Basilisks have to join a separate chat room. I join and then quickly leave as I think I should be here only if I'm with the fleet!

About 5 mins pass and I'm asked to "Come on grid". My best guess is, that I should try warping to the Logistics Anchor (LC) and be on the same grid as the fleet. I also join Basi Logi Chat. "Oh yeah! The cap chain! FFS!"

In my previous post I forgot to mention that logi usually needs to set up a cap chain. You need 2 cap transfers with logi 4 and only 1 cap transfer with logi 5 to be cap stable. In Basi Logi Chat you have to type your logi level and then the LC will update the MOTD, which will tell you who your cap buddies are... I got a bit confused with the cap chain sometimes... It sounds simple, but because with Logi 4 and Logi 5 pilots mixed, there are "free caps for fleet". This meant, that I only had to transfer cap to one logi constantly and had a spare cap transfer for pilots requesting cap!

My overview was a mess! Watchlist, Fleet history, locked pilots, cap chain pilots, fleet chat : all new stuff! This was my display after the first site:

I was never screamed at or anything. Things were going all fine. I had a few pretty small mess ups with the cap chain and once a flew away from the fleet because I forgot to orbit the LC :) I was also kicked from TS once because my CTR+SHIFT used to be my talk button, however I used CTR+SHIFT+CLICK to unlock targets. No biggie though! Was kicked, set myself on mute, then joined again.

Follow the FC's instructions and read what your LCs says. That's about it!

I had no idea what types of ships these sites contained. All I knew, is that when people request for shields or cap, then you lock them and activate your modules :)

Ran 6 sites but I have no idea what their names were. Could probably Google them, but I will just call them: Site A (with the 3 gates and the tower bash at the end) and Site B (when there are no gates and you complete the site with rats still on the grid).

Site A was pretty easy I think. Nobody got into armor and didn't really need to use all my 4 reps. Took longer though than site B. Site B is the harder site! Aggro switches could be a pain if they were sudden and a logi or a "not so pimped ship" was targeted. Still these "sketchy" situations were nothing compared to WoW raiding when you dropped to about like 15% HP. The biggest damage was done to a Legion who ended up at 75% Armor when reps landed and he was healed back to top!

People were very pleased with the Logi! Supposedly we were doing a great job. Well, I guess, we didn't let any ships die, so we were "great" :) Still, the funniest was when in a site B there was an aggro switch and a Vindi was getting raped big time. He was dropping but reps were good and ~30% shield was the max to which he dipped. After repping him through all the aggro he called out on coms and thanked the logi for saving him and that he is greatly thankful and that we are awesome!!! People were teasing him and I started laughing also! LOL!

This was the payout:

6 * 31.5MM =  189MM in exactly two hours! Not bad, but that was actually around 3 hours of game time, because one hour was just waiting to get into a fleet :) So about ~65MM true ISK/hour. As you can see site B is much faster to clear than site A. Doing Site B's you can easily push ~120MM ISK/hour. Thats pretty much risk free, because you got SRP in case you loose your logi :)

This was all written right after I ran the Incursions. Going to probably write up a follow up posts when the experiences settle down a bit :)

In conclusion:
Trading is still the best way to make money! 100MM ISK/Hour is nothing! But Incursions are fun because you meet a bunch of new people and you are not just docked in a station hoarding your ISK!
Going to think on other aspects too!

Fly on!

Nullsec Wannabe #2

Second and final part of my adventures in Nullsec. This should also be last update on my EVE history. Finally I might be catching up to the present :)

Null Red Crosses (written: 6/19/2014)

I'm down in 0.0 and trying to figure out what to do. I brought some BPOs but there is no market to buy minerals and no market to sell the products. I have very minimal PvP experience and don't really have the time (nor the skillpoints) to join an alliance roam. I don't really want to mine although it's an option. No trading can be done either. So the only thing I can do is go ratting in anoms like pretty much everyone else!

I've got a sentry domi that can clear sites but it takes way too long and doesn't make good ISK. I need better skills, more characters or more expensive ships.

As an alternative I decide to ask around if I can salvage after other players but many newbies do this so there is competition during prime time. If you get a steady stream of sites to salvage in a Noctis you can make pretty decent ISK. Around 60-70MM per hour if I remember correctly.

There where a classes I should have attended, but only listened to about two full lectures. At first I tried to make some social contact but I didn't really feel like chatting to people, so I just usually put myself AFK on Teamspeak.

The only action I saw was when N3 where undocking +40 carriers and cynoing away from our home station (which they were staging from). I have never before seen a carrier so it was pretty cool to see a huge amount of them undock! Our station was also streamed on Mad-Ani at some point. I got to see myself on TV :)

Other than the above, it was boring in 0.0! It's not the corp's or CCP's fault, it's my own. I'm just not that social when it comes to the internet :) In my WoW raiding guild, we weren't forced to speak on coms so I never did even though I had a headset.

I wanted to make money and was thinking of doing regional trading! I wanted to have money and plex my account, given that this was my original goal when starting to play. Set up a few contracts to get my stuff hauled back to HS and when the contract was complete I quit corp without saying goodbye or anything. (Not cool from my side!)

I was great experience being down in nullsec, but I just didn't have the skills and game knowledge to enjoy myself there! If you are social than you can have much more fun in nullsec than in highsec, but without human interaction nullsec just didn't offer to much to me. I have now got 20.5MM SP and a lot more money and PvP experience (okay, maybe " a lot more PvP experience" is an exaggeration).

Crius is Coming

A few dev blogs have come out relating to the Crius mini expansion which is going live on July 22nd.

I think this: Upcoming API changes is one of the most important ones!

I am really happy that the devs and the CSM (pretty sure Steve had the most input here) chose option 2.

In short: they are going to rework the whole industry API so that it is updated for Crius. Hopefully this will mean that precise manufactoring calculation can be done in spreadsheets and standalone tools.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of people play EVE for the "Industy Tycoon" experience. Without being able to set up your own calculations and be able to optimize your production CCP is taking away a large part of the game's core.

I myself have been producing T1 and T2 rigs for about 3-4 months. As soon as I read the manufacturing changes I instantly shut down all new production. Instead I started researching all the rig BPOs to ME 10 and TE 10 (optimal).

Also wanted to look at capital production but the ISK per hour on those things is really low to me for all the effort. It takes a lot of logistics and a lot of ISK to get it started...

Just in case, I researched 4 capital component BPOs to post-crius optimal (the ones needed for freighter production). I can possibly sell those at a profit after the patch or can start making freighters myself :)

Really interested in what Crius has to offer. Want to fire up rig production again but need to see first how the market and the third party tools turn out.

Just a few ideas on manufacturing and Crius :)

BPO - Blueprint Original. A blueprint from which something can be produced. Can be researched for ME (material efficiency) and TE (time efficiency) to reduce the needed materials and time to produce the good.

EVE-Uni Again

I'm still trying to find something through LS belt ratting. As I wrote previously, I lost my Algos to a clone soldier... Don't rage it me! It was intentional ("Didn't want that Algos anyway!"), in the sense that I could have warped out, but tried to get under his guns and didn't want to bail.

So I switched to a Caracal:

[Caracal, cara]
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Pseudoelectron Containment Field I
Ballistic Control System II

Warp Disruptor II
Medium Shield Extender II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Large F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction

Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Scourge Rage Heavy Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Scourge Rage Heavy Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Scourge Rage Heavy Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Scourge Rage Heavy Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Scourge Rage Heavy Assault Missile

Medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Medium Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I
Medium Ancillary Current Router I

Standard PvE / PvP fit. 431 dps with rage... so looked really good on paper. Fitted one up, and found instantly that its extremely slow at warping and aligning! (Well, at least compared to my Algos). I was checking far less belts than I did with the Algos... But I could confidently kill anything I found (which was nothing!) I'm going to track how many Belts I check, and what I find!

Anyway, after like 20 minutes of not even finding a BS rat, I stumbled upon a clone soldier with 1MM bounty... I was working him down without an issue (of course forgetting to use my two drones) and he was at 50% armor when an  EVE-Uni Ares appears on grid. ("FFS! Is this really happening again!") I spam warp but I seem to be too slow. No idea how as he was 35km when he landed and I can easily warp out in ~6s... Anyway, I'm pointed, I switch dps to the Ares and other Uni frigs land on grid... Had Javelins loaded so was expecting to blap the Ares, but could barely scratch him! ("Here we go!Thank god this is not the Tengu I'm loosing!" Suddenly I swarm of frigs surround me and I've got more ECM lighting up on my display than a christmas tree :) I spam warp so that I can get me pod out. I pop. Warp my pod out and type:
-gf
-gj UNI

They respond with a bunch of GFs and I also see a "sorry about that mate" in local :) I didn't respond, but instead docked up, logged off and went to help my girlfriend look at new laptops!

Previously to loosing the Caracal I was even tempted to take out the Tengu for belt ratting. I would have removed the bling and been using a cov-ops cloak, but I don't want to risk it anymore! I'm back to Algos v2:

[Algos, v2]
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Damage Control II
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste

Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I
Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
[empty med slot]

Anode Light Neutron Particle Cannon I, Antimatter Charge S
Anode Light Neutron Particle Cannon I, Antimatter Charge S
Anode Light Neutron Particle Cannon I, Antimatter Charge S
Anode Light Neutron Particle Cannon I, Antimatter Charge S
Anode Light Neutron Particle Cannon I, Antimatter Charge S
Salvager I

Small Anti-Thermic Pump I
Small Trimark Armor Pump I
Small Anti-Kinetic Pump I

Hammerhead II x2
Hobgoblin II x3

Don't really like the fit! Hate having an extra mid slot open... This is designed for serpentis ratting, as the rigs suggest... Plan is to MWD till I get under the clone soldier's guns and have the AAR until I can mitigate the damage. Anyone got suggestions on this? Haven't read anywhere, but how tanky are those now Mordu rats?

ps:
I will be traveling to Rome on Saturday evening and coming back on Tuesday! This post will get published on Monday, should hopefully have time to write the Wednesday post too :) Wish me good luck for the flight! I am totally terrified of taking off. Anyone I travel with starts laughing like crazy at the whole "show" I do when we take off :)
ps2:
First "real" comment on the blog. First one was sorta "forced" via me contacting Pilgrim in Exile. Hope he doesn't take it the wrong way, I'm still honored to be on his blog roll!
The first comment came from Sugar Kyle! If you play EVE and don't know Sugar than you are either living under a rock or have just subbed like 30mins ago (I've read she hangs out in rookie chat so no excuse no to know her!)
I was totally shocked when I saw that she commented on my Incursion post. I was at work and instantly told the guy sitting next to me! Acted like a little girl who just got a pony :D
Gonna reply to her comment now!
No idea how she found the blog though :)

New terms updated on the EVE explained page:

LS - Low security space
belt - asteroid belts where NPCs (rats) spawn and can be killed for bounty and loot. You can also mine the asteroids
Ratting - Killing NPCs (red crossed on your overview) for bounty and loot.
BS - Battleship
Javelin - T2 missiles that have longer range, do less dps and are designed to be used against small tragets.
bling - expensive modules that are usually cost a lot of ISK but only improve your ship's performance marginally.
AAR - Ancillary Armor Repairer. Uses Nanite paste as charges and reps a lot more than normal armor repairers. When it runs out of charges it can still rep, but only about 70% of that a normal repairer.

EVE Explained

I remember back when I first started reading about EVE and didn't understand a single word. EVE news 24 and The Mittani have great stories and news and funny stuff IF you understand all the fancy EVE abbreviations and acronyms.

Straight from The Mittani (from June 10, 2014):

Leaping into action, Asakura dropped probes and scanned down the Ragnarok as Mr Bio pinged for reinforcements. Asakura then warped the two heavy interdictors onto the grid at zero, decloaking the titan. Points landed as the cyno went up, bridging in two more HICs to ensure a consistent point on their prey.

Didn't have to look long to find these beautiful two sentences that make absolutely no sense if you are new to the game. A solo player will never (unless by reading a hoard of info and news) learn what these (mostly nullsec) slang means.

Noobie friendly explanation to for the above paragraph:

Asakura dropped probes:
Asakura is a player (thats clear for the articel) who was flying a ships which had an Expanded Probe Launcher fitted and launched the combat scanner probes so that he can pinpoint and warp straight to the ship he was trying to catch.

Mr Bio pinged for reinforcements:
Mr Bio is the other pilot. I haven't seen this myself, but big 0.0 coalitions usually use Mumble or Jabber where all online players are logged in and in case something big happens. They send out a message (ping) to everyone to log in ASAP and come and kill something :)

Heavy interdictors:
The only type of tackle (making a ship unable to warp) ship that can tackle a supercarrier(SC) and Titan. The HIC has a special module which can be fitted with a script which can then tackle even an SC. SCs are otherwise immune to ECM.

Grid at zero:
It the part of the solarsystem which you can directly see from your ships. Basically, if you are on the same grid you can see each other's ship on the overview. For example when you undock, you can see a bunch of other ships on the overview. Once you warp to the sun, you will only see ships which have also at the sun (thus, have previously warped there). At zero means that when warping the two HICs he selected to warp them at 0km. (right in the middle of the grid)

 Decloaking the titan:
All ships can fit a cloaking device which when activated will make your ships disappear from the overview and from D-scan. If something comes closer than 2500M to the cloaked ship it will get decloaked.

 Cyno went up:
A Cynosural field can be opened by any ship with the module fitted. To this "field" jump capable ships (capital ships and black ops) can jump and other sub-caps can be bridged to using a Titan with a jump bridge generator.

I honestly believe that EVE is too complicated and for noobies reading news can be extremely confusing.

I have been feeling that when I write my posts there are a lot of abbreviations and acronyms which might not be clear for all my readers. As a solution I plan to start an "EVE Explained" terms which will be a list of the new phrases I use. I'm not going to write up a full list from scratch. I will just add new terms as I use them :)

Hope this will be useful for the newbies! I don't think that I'm an expert or anything so please anyone feel free to correct my terminology and explanation :)

Incursion Prepartion

During my week off and studying at home I got to watch a few EVE streams. There was a dude streaming his incursion. The Dichtonian Fleet if I remember... was boring as crap but I got an inkling to get myself to try running in an incursion fleet at least once!

Naturally the next step was research!
I don't have T2 large weapons trained so I choose to check out Logi fittings... Healing in WoW was never too much fun... but its something totally new  in EVE for me! I found "Warp to Me" and joined their channel "Warp to Me incursions" read the whole FAQ and guide and whatnot.

They run shield incursions fleets and I have caldari cruiser lvl5 so checked out the Basilisk fittings. They have 3 on their site: WTM
It's recommended that you carry all the fitting so you can easily refit into what the FC wants. I checked the skill requirements to be able to fly all 3 (they are nearly identical, just one has a few more cap or tracking boosters):

[Basilisk, WTM Basilisk Standard]
Damage Control II
Reactor Control Unit II

Republic Fleet Large Shield Extender
10MN Afterburner II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Pithum C-Type EM Ward Amplifier

Large Remote Shield Booster II
Large Remote Shield Booster II
Large Remote Shield Booster II
Large Remote Shield Booster II
Large 'Regard' Remote Capacitor Transmitter
Large 'Regard' Remote Capacitor Transmitter

Medium Ancillary Current Router I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender II

Light Armor Maintenance Bot I x5
Nanite Repair Paste x200

With Logi 4 it will take around 19 days in total. Not that bad... and those skills are all useful! Not training logi 5 though. Don't really see myself flying fleets too much in the future.

Currently there are still 9 days left till I have all the skills. It's going to be interesting flying in a fleet! I read the rules and it doesn't seem to be that complicated... just lock the people broadcasting reps and rep them :) Overheat when things get sketchy... Orbit your anchor... When you get yellowboxed broadcast for reps and spam your invul (if you are neuted). Think that's about it!

A couple of days passed, and was reading WTM chat, and saw people X-ing up in Meta4 blaster Vindicators. I quickly checked EFT if I could fly one of those fits... turns out I just need Minie BS Lvl 1 :) My gunnery support skills are all Lvl4, so my dps would be quite decent!

Money isn't really in issue, so what I will do is after getting the Basilisk skills I will also skill into the Vindicator and patch up the few skills (~5 days) to be able to fly it decently. Then, when I X up in WTM I can come as DPS and Logi (with 3 available fits) :) Happy days! (I hope!)

I will have to test out these broadcasts and targets and general fleet UI stuff because I have never really flown in an organized fleet :)

I will have time and skills to run incursion starting from the end of June. I will post updates if I decide to change my mind! Hopefully I can make some decent ISK too! All my non trading activities seem to be ISK sinks!

Any tips on Incursions?
I'm a bit worried as around 80% of logis have Logi LvL5...

Back on Track

Nothing much to write on, but just wanted to post a quick update:

The exam is done! No more intense studying, so should probably play a bit more EVE. Still have to wait 8 weeks for the results... Lame... Keep your fingers crossed though!

Was messing around a bit in Kronos! Decided to go ratting in LS... Not much luck on getting new ships BPCs... or I should say: No luck at all! Not even clone soldiers... :S
I was ratting in an Algos, when I found a clone soldier with 1.5MM bounty but it blapped me...
What is the best ship for ratting?
Gila maybe?

Houskeeping items:
I plan to post every second day: Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
This is my Monday post, even though its kinda late and not that interesting :P
Got a few new ideas and a lot of projects to write about! So stay tuned!

No Gain, No Time!

My plan was to publish a new post every two days. But things got in the way again!

I am currently at home studying like a mad man (actually procrastinating mostly) for a financial qualification exam... Hopefully it will benefit my career and whatnot... currently all the benefit I got from it is the joy of having a bunch of money removed from my bank account...

On to EVE:
I haven't played much, but have been watching a few streams! SirSqueebles and Hershman the most. Today I watched a bit a CODE dude flying in a fleet ganking +1Bn freighters.
Squeebles is very cool! He hit 4k viewers and bought a Dred so that people can shoot at it... He messed up a bit, and got stranded at his 2nd mid cyno. PL being loving guys, they hot dropped using a spy :) The fleet was open invitation. A Proteus joined the fleet, warped to the cloaked Dred, lit a cyno and like +10 supercaps (including a Revenant!?!?!) showed up and blapped him. Just gotta love the EVE community!

ISK wise I'm actually doing pretty well! Haven't update jEVEassets in like 2 months... so was a bit scared when I updated the API key and looked at the "tracker" graph! I was pretty lazy on my regional trading, but I still made good ISK! My worth is a bit less than 18Bn! Do you really need more ISK than that? Sure, if you want an SC you need a lot more, but even for a Dred or Cap this money is more than enough. I just want to plex my two accounts and have money for what I need. Don't want to "waste" all my EVE time updating orders sitting in station, when there are much coolers things to do!

PC stuff:
My PC crashes all the time! Can't play on two screens at all! Don't really feel like playing under these conditions... After the exam (June 7) I'll take it to the PC doctor :) I'm guessing that the SSD is old and going crap...

Working on a few new projects:
- Tornado suicide ganking
- Incursion Logi
- T1 Rig BPO set finalization

Lucky Loot!

Just a quick post!

I've had enough of FW for a while. So I quit Minnie Mill and clone jumped to my Tengu. I set course to Dodixie. After 4 jumps I came across an unlooted yellow wreck 56km from the gate. I decided to slowboat!

I choose to risk going flashy yellow, so I docked up, emptied my cargohold and warped back to the wreck which I previously bookmarked.

I had to make two runs!

Didn't want to stay on grid long (even though the gate was very quite) with a yellow timer, so I had to leave the Geckos, hence the two runs :)

60MM for 5mins! Beat that ISK/hour... :)

Take chances and get rewarded! (Maybe don't risk your 1bn Tengu very often though!)

I'm not a good person

tldr: I was previously in Gall Mil, but because Minmatar is T4 I joined them instead for the money! Even worse, I shot down one of my militia mates!

I needed to start a few research jobs in my POS using Butcher Hentes, so I quite Gall Mil, rejoined my own corp and set up the jobs (have to write my business post!). After my little wormhole adventure (check out the post) I decided to join the Minmatar Militia because they are T4 and can make more ISK!

I got off to a rocky start. Trying to find a novice plex wasn't easy and couldn't really find good fights and sort of got bored of always flying my Condor.

I wanted to wait for T2 Blasters before using a Merlin, but I couldn't wait. I should have! Then the second Merlin was even worse! Ship and pod on the Hek undock... Spammed dock instead of warping off to a distant planet! Bad sh*t!

I had enough of Merlins and had a Tristan in my hangar so I quickly made a fail fit and headed out! Eager to plex and make some LP! I always open the FW window and order the systems by distance and set my destination to the first offensive contested system :)

Finally found a novice plex in Kamela and started orbiting the plex beacon at 500m. (Brawl fit Tristan is what I was going for). After 5 mins a Firetail shows up. I don't bail. He comes into the plex and starts orbiting me at +30km. He is flashing red, so I lock and send drones to engage. Drones are chipping away at him slowly. He then suddenly decides to MWD at me and scram and shoot. I scram/web and overheat my armor repair like crazy! I'm at around 50% structure when he pops! "OMG! Faction frigate kill! Whooot!"

Local lights up:
Firetail pilot (FP): "Dude wtf?"
Me: "Skill mate!"
FP: "Man, im in your militia! I'm flashy. I know. Fix your overview!"
Me: "FFS!"
Other Amar pilot: "Awoxer with Skill! :)

I quickly log my second main and transfer him 17MM with an apology.
Lame by me :( I don't want to mess with OV settings. But I do have a Militia column, which I didn't play attention to... He didn't respond to my ISK transfer. So I guess we are all cool! :)

Life goes on! I rep up my damage and don't bail from the plex. There is minimal heat damage, but nothing extra... 2 minutes pass and a Condor shows up on short scan! "Oh I really hope I catch him!" He warps in, I scram and blap! Scrammed Condor = Dead Condor! The plex is captured soon after and I head on!

I find another plex and capture it without conflict. I call it a day and start heading home when I jump into a system with 2 hostiles on the gate! One is a Jaguar and I'm not sure if I can warp away in time. So I start burning back to gate... He thinks ahead and crosses the gate so he can catch me on the other side! His mate is left on the gate. "Dude, its only an Atron. It's in scram range. Don't jump just blap him!" And that's how it went! The Jaguar jumped back just after I killed the Atron, but I was able to warp off before he could point me.

Three kills in one night! Even though, the Firetail kill was technically an awox... He still did everything to not loose his ship! He wanted to kill me instead of convoing me, or bailing... So, I'm very proud of that kill! :)

I made a decent amount of LP and cashed out 78K as best as I could... Didn't sell the item yet (some weird implant), still need to contract it to my Jita alt.

I did manage to loose that hero Tristan two days later! Things started going south again, but that's for my next post!

Do you w-space?

I always want to try out new things! Luckily I trained into a Tengu, so there isn't a lot of PvE content I can not try or at least poke at :) Wormholes were always a mystery to me and I never really attempted to mess around in them. But then I got an inkling!

I while back I read a post from Von Keigai : ISK in Wsapce. Feel free to read the whole post but the tl:dr = 92MM/hour doing small sites in a c4. I left a comment asking Keigai if about the same ISK could be made doing c2 or c3 normal anomalies. His answer was that isk/hour should be about the same, maybe a bit lower...

I had a bit of time this weekend and decided to give the whole thing a try! I trained my second main quickly into a dragoon with salvagers and then headed out to find a wormhole that leads from HS to a c3 or c2.

The Tengu fit is very close to the one I use for exploration. Changed the shield resist to better fit the omni damage that sleepers do, but that's it. So I went to hunt down a hole!

I thought it was going to be much easier! Had to spend a lot of time (waaay too much for my taste) to find a decent hole. Either it was a busy w-space system or the wormhole was just simple a HS-HS or HS-LS connection....

At last I found a C3. One online tower. No ships. Checked on staticmaper that the system had been quite for the past 48h and then moved my salvager to the wormhole in HS (to scout) and got ready to try a c3 site with my Tengu. Read a bit on eve survival what to expect in The Oruze Contruct. "Cool, dps is low and I've got like 1k tank. Neut? Not sure... probably nothing to care about. No scram= Happy days!"

I warped in. They started shooting and neuting... Not really sure what happened but long story short: they neuted me bad and I had to warp out while praying I don't get capped out and loose my Tengu! :) "Ok, so find a c2 instead!"

I again had to look for ages to get a good c2... I ran the site now without problem (the sleepers here were not neuting). Nobody troubled me and everything went fine. Other than the fact that those freakin' sleeper battleships take ages to go down! What the hell are the made of?! (*sleeper loot*) The annoying thing is, that you can't warp in your salvager to start clearing the wrecks, because the battleship switches aggro to it! "Not cool! Warp, warp, warp!"

I cleared two site, got about 35MM loot including salvage (should definitely start taking screenshots for these! Might spice up the blog too). The two sites took about 25-30 minutes Think it could be doable to have ~100MM/hour after a bit more practice.

Conclusion: If you live in a c2, it's doable to make solo (with an alt) 100MM isk/hour ratting. But don't try day tripping. It takes way too much time to find a suitable C2.

W-space PvE was a let down for me... Low ISK and a lot of added risk! Sleepers are a pain and you can easily get blobbed or hunted or something! (W-space is dangerous...)
I'm happy I tried this out though! I can now say that "I have done w-space PvE!"
FW frigate PvP is much more entertaining (and can possible make more money) with less downside potential (loosing my Tengu would hurt bigtime).
I will just stick to regional trading for my money and FW frigate pewpew for my adrenaline dose :)

I encourage everyone to try out new stuff! Don't just stick to one role of play!

Nullsec wannabe

This is not going to be major news to anyone who has looked at the My EVE history page recently, but there is a new piece added!

I wrote about the first part of my "adventure" in sov nullsec. For veterans and general nullsec people the info/story might not hold that much interest, but I remember being a noob and hearing about Asakai (and now B-R) and envisioning nullsec but now knowing any details!

Well the following short piece is just my small bit in nullsec. Basically every blog (or even CCP) wants capsuleers to leave highsec and go to null or lowsec. I strongly recommend it to anyone who hasn't lived in nullsec to try it for just a couple of months (you can always move back!).

Think I was pretty lucky with the Hungarian alliance accepting me. Even if you can't join you own nation's null bloc, you can always join Brave Newbies. From what I have read in the media, they would be definetly the bloc I join! :)

Anyway, here is the piece:

Moving down (written:5/17/2014):
So my colleague left my firm and then left EVE shortly after... But I had big plans! I was going to apply to HUN Reloaded (RAX ticker) and move down to nullsec. I filled out and application form and sent it to their recruiter. A few days later I had a "job" interview via TS3. The recruiter was really helpful and explained that I will be joining their training corp and after 3 months I can apply into one of their main corps. I have to attend classes to be eligible for "passing" the training corp.
I accepted the conditions, but I really doubted that I would have time to attend all those mandatory trainings (don't want to spoil the story, but I only attended like 2 classes during my time with RAX).
I was to move down to their pocket in Immensea and the recruited explained that they have JF service from a specific system (I'm not gonna name it!). All you have to do is set up a private contract to a given char and they will move your ships (repacked) and other stuff down to GXK free of charge.
So, I sold all my stuff, repacked a few of my ships and moved down! The recruiter said that I could either death clone down to their system or can try getting down there on my own.
I was young and brave! Fitted up an Atron and set the shortest route from Dodixie to GXK. This was the outcome: Atron and Pod (Dat Atron :O !) Was a "typical" bubble gate camp by -A-. Blapped me easily, but I woke up in a new clone down in GXK!
The rules of living with RAX:
- When online you always have to be logged into TS3 (I usually just logged in, joined TS and set myself AFK)
- When undocking you have to join the RAX Home Def fleet! (I always joined, was no big deal)
- Don't mine are rat when there's a neut in the system (we were pissing of some alliance and they occasionally placed cloaked neuts in our ratting system. Sucks!)
- Report anything you see to the intel channel (that channel was pretty cool! Renters always wrote intel and you could track ships move in and out of our space.)
I got to attend an alliance meeting once and learned a bunch of interesting stuff about RAX. This is the summary:
HUN Reloaded is an Hungarian sov holding alliance living in Immensea. They are blue with N3 and have access to N3 coms and whatnot. They actually receive renter income because RAX is part of the N3 coalition and gets a slice of the renter money. RAX is pretty active and is present in almost all the big coalition fights! (next time you see a battle report where its n3/pl vs CFC, check if RAX is there! They are great guys and were always loyal to N3)
I got some info about jump bridges and POSes.I didn't really know (have still never used one) what a jumpbridge is, and have never seen a POS before (at the time of writing I own one in HS) :P

Was thrilled to be part of this and was looking forward to doing stuff in Nullsec! Hungarian people, cool stories, huge losses, huge kills and the thrill of ("They could be camping our station any time, any day!")

Almost there

I have written up two new segments of the My EVE History page!
Nothing really fancy but had  a bit of time and want to finally catch up to current day :)

The new sections:

Trading for my riches!
I have been trading alongside the whole PI project. Was making about the same amount as with PI (around 300-400MM per month). Nothing fancy just basic station trading in Dodixie. Grew slowly up to trading basic implants (10MM price). At the end of the project I also had a trader in Amarr and one in Jita. Was trying to make some profit at those stations too, but Jita was horrible for me in terms of station trading. Amarr was better in terms of profit but couldn't actually dedicate time to the Amarr trader to make serious ISK :(
If you were wondering, I did only have one account and the Jita trader was also the secondary PI character :)
Didn't use any spreadsheets nor any third party tools. Looked at the price chart (didn't even know there was a table view to see historic prices and volumes) and if it looked good to me, I would set up a buy order.
I didn't train trading really that much. On Butcher Hentes I had (and still have) 53 orders. That was all I needed, didn't even use all of them most of the time. I didn't train Margin trading (the skill that allows you to reduce the collateral you need to post for a buy order). Don't really "believe" in that skill :)
I would rather want to have a clear picture all the time of the ISK I have, rather than always checking my escrow...
Updated orders in the morning and once in the afternoon. I work so can't really compete with no lifers or Bots. I'll update orders and maybe cut of 10% from the market orders and its done. I made pretty good money with relatively low effort. Much less effort than PI and way less than with missions or mining! :)
Was making good money, could have afforded cooler ships, but didn't have the skills :( It got boring quick :(

Just flying with no reason!:
One of my colleagues at work was tired of GW2 and wanted something new. Think it was around the time that Asakai hit the news. So he went ahead and tried EVE! After installing the game he texted me "How do I make the ship go somewhere? I can only warp and dock!" (He was a gamer all his life and knows perfect English! This is why people quit EVE! Things like this!
Anyway, he played around a bit, but we didn't really fleet up or anything. He was big on exploration in lowsec. No combat sites, only relic and data. Once I went along with him, to help "protect" him as he was constantly being shot down by locals. Nothing happened though. No one came and exploration was quite boring for my taste plus the loot spew mechanic is awful and I had no idea which cans to go for.
I suggested to him, that we should leave living in high sec and go to LS and do some PVP. I knew nothing about PvP and he didn't either so we scratched that plan :)
Then, I wanted to try joining the Hungarian 0.0 alliance: HUN Reloaded. But my colleague had enough of EVE and didn't extend his subscription after the 20+30 days (trial + 30 days).
I was alone again!

Shout out!

Pilgrim in Exile a couple of weeks ago posted this!

I have contacted him, and he was kind enough the give me a shout out!

As a results my blog has been getting a significant amount of hits! (well at least a lot more than before :P )
Left a comment on the shout out post to thank Pilgrim in Exile (not sure what his in game or blogger name is).

Just wanted to make a quick post, thanking him again and welcoming all the new readers!

Have a few new posts planned... Not much has happened in EVE to be honest, but I have made a few changes to my current projects!

I headed out from Dodixie and got to the non FW lowsec part of Placid. After a couple of empty (sig wise) or busy systems (pilot wise) I found one with only me in local and 3 sigs. Warped to a planet at distance and started scanning. Don't remember what two sigs were, but the last one was a Gas site. I decided to fully scan it down, and it turned out to be a Gas/Combat site, with some potential nice loot. I refit, using the mobil depot I carry around and started clearing the site.
(I have since run a similar site and got a few reactions and a drug manufacturing skillbook. Total loot was about 60MM for about 30mins. Happy days!)

After a couple if minutes, a second pilot enters local and warps straight into my site. Instantly approaches and points me in his Maulus! "Oh crap, what is he doing!" I act quick: Lock, and shoot him with Rage missiles. Didn't want to waste time loading Javelins. He is dropping waaaay too slowly... Then suddenly 8-9 EVE-Uni pilots enter the system. I realize the issue and tell my girlfriend that I'm going to loose the Tengu! (she knows its my most expensive ship). I align toward a stargate just in case.

At this point I'm totally panicking and thinking of ways I can escape. During these 3-4 seconds other EVE-Uni ships start entering the site (I remember seeing a Hawk) I don't realize but the Maulus is dieing pretty steadily and then to my surprise he explodes! I act quick and initiate warp! I'm outta there! I was raised on WoW so I always troll when I get the chance "EVE uni fail!" goes into local by me :) No reply though :(

As a land on gate the message comes up that I can't jump because I was just recently killing someone :) There is also an EVE-Uni Thorax on the gate! "Oh common! Don't mess it up now!" I decide to initiate warp across the system toward the other gate. The Thorax luckily doesn't act so I get into the long warp. The timer expires and I happily jump to the next system (no idea which one). There are again a couple of EVE Uni ships on the grid! "You gotta be kiddin me!" I spam warp to dock into a station and manage to get away! I log off and tell my GF the story and that I'll need to go back to my mobile depot!

My situational awareness is getting much better now. Shooting the Maulus asap and aligning instantly was a huge move! Without the align I would have got tackled by the Hawk (but who know, maybe this would have happened: Sick s***!. Was happy to get my second solo kill. Even though it was just a Tengu vs Maulus :)

More pew pew, less failing!

I had my first solo kill!

If that was all I posted, it would still be my best post yet :P
Anyway, a few things have happened since my last update, so here is one!

Let's go in chronological order:

May 2nd:
Up till April 27th I have been failing hard in FW and didn't have a single solo kill. Then this happened:
AFK on the gate. Poor dude left his ship in space on the gate. At first I zapped past him. Then after 5 mins I came back again through the gate and noticed him still there! I locked, TP, point and LML away!
Got the Sentinel and his pretty expensive pod! It was a free kill but I was totally stocked after it.
I later lost my Condor due to being careless... Warped in to a Jaguar and he killed me easily... no big story here.

May 4th:
Just a typical loss here. But I want to add, that the fight was extremely close! I was plexing, orbiting with MWD the beacon at 18km. I see him on D-scan, I get ready. He warps in, I lock, LML, TP and orbit. At first the fight seemed to go great. He was in armor pretty quick and he didn't really manage to get close and web/scram. But then he suddenly he started to close distance and was applying damage. I popped when he was at around 40% structure! One more fire with the LML would have done it :S
I have no idea if he had links or used boosters or just simply overheated his MWD, but he was chasing me at +4k m/s while I was running trying to keep distance going around 3.5k m/s.
I should have overheated my LML sooner and also should have overheated my MWD! With those changes I believe I could have gotten him. Anyway, was a prick Goon (Yes, I do hate Goons! N3 FTW!) but he did "gf" in local, so was all cool :)

May 5th:
Here it is! How it happened: I was bored with plexing and nobody coming to fight me... True, it might be kinda hard to get a fight with a Condor while plexing. Guess nobody would really want to engage a kiter with him having the home field advantage i.e.: range! :)
So I decided I will go to Stay Frosty's (SF) new home: Ishomilken. The previous day I have happily offensive plexed a novice complex while like 13 SF was in the system. So wanted to try again and then troll SF for being pussies and not killing easy targets in their home system :D
I got into a novice plex. Local was around 15, with 1-2 squids and the rest SF. 5 minutes passed and I almost accepted my fate of not finding a fight, but then an Atron pops up of short D-scan. I was like "Oh man! This is going to be sweet! Just don't f*** up!". He comes into the plex, I orbit, lock, LML, TP and point. He is in SF!This is going to be interesting!
Range is good, point is good, and LMLs are eating up his shield. No rep mods, so he was steadily going down. But he wasn't going easy! He was wobbling like a hooked fish! He was desperately trying to overheat his AB and get out of point range. But I was controlling him. I overheated my point when he was nearing 24k range and also hit approach instead of orbit. After a bit of time he went down! Was totally shocked and could barely think :) Gfs in local were exchanged and then I wanted to get close and loot his wreck. At that point one of his corp mates came into the plex, so I bailed instantly!
Did he call out on coms that he is getting raped and called in his mate? SF blobbing again I see :D
First true solo kill! (Bare in mind, that I don't fleet with anyone, so all kills are going to be solo!)

These were the highlights of the week! Have an other great exploration story coming up! I decided to take out my Tengu. Because "I am an absolute beast now in PVP!" :D

Drink and Fly

Just a quick post!
It's a tough week at work so not much EVE going on.
But today one of my mates came over and we started drinking...

As natural I was logged in to EVE and went into Ishomilken to "just look around" and when my mate came back from the toilet I went outside with him to the balcony. After 5 mins I realized I had been in FW space AFK!

This is the outcome: Condor and then Pod .
Rixx is on the KM! Trying to blob me I see :)
No idea what happened on the pod kill... Think he called in one of his mates so that he can get the KM... Lame, if true!

Out to the pub!

Morale of the story: don't drink and fly! :)

ps: last time my mate was over: Feeling brave and taking the shortcut through LS.

Hard times in FW

Sorry for the late update but it has been a really busy week.
On FW I sorta got burned out, given that I lost 200M ISK on ships while not getting a single kill... True on my KB I got two kills but they weren't actual solo PvP kills as they were kills on targets on which I inflicted but someone else killed a bit after.
So I didn't really feel the urge to log in, loose money and get my ship exploded.
Naturally I have become more and more careless and lost my pod 3 times... Those were the most expensive losses.

On my main (Butcher Hentes) I trained into T2 rockets and LML, now training weapon upgrades lvl5 to make fitting easier. Wanna learn hybrid weapon skills next! Not giving up on FW! :)

On my second account I've got a invention alt (that I still haven't written about) and my secondary main which is getting trained into capitals! No idea if I'll get there but would be cool to fly an Archon. First want to train her into an Orca. Might eventually become useful!

Just a few words on my training!

Definitely want to write about the industry changes/blogs! tl dr: Horrible S***!

Heads up: Each first week of a new month is a nightmare at work... I won't go into details but I don't really get to log in much during the first week. But have the weekend to maybe squeeze some gametime :)

Last weekend's highlights

Plexing together
On Sunday we were cleaning the flat with my GF. I finished my part and started to play EVE. Soon she finished her stuff too and reminded me that I had promised to clean the dishes.
I had totally forgot about them and have already started orbiting a button in a novice plex.
I was happy to do the dishes but asked my GF if she could watch local, glance at the overview and hit d-scan every couple of secs :)
She was cool with it, so she sat down, started playing candy crush while spamming d-scan every 3 secs.
Told her that if she sees anything new appear just shout. (its a small flat so the kitchen sink is like 5 secs from the PC)
Luckily no squids (caldari FW) came to blap me, so we got the LP! 20MM ISK while washing dishes! Beat that ISK per hour :P
Fun stuff for the whole family! :P

"Why do you always get killed?"
I play EVE alone, no corps, no contacts, no social interaction (other than this blog). So I tell all my achievements to my GF, who has never played EVE and is not a gamer at all.

During the weekend I told her each time I had been blapped... After the 7th kill, she starts a conversation asking me "Why do you always get killed?" and "What do you think you are doing wrong?"

She suggested I use the best guns and get a bigger ship :)

I told her that the biggest issues are: my failing on maneuvering the ship and not picking the correct fights. Also explained that I am using the "best" weapons. She thought that it was actually my shooting skills (FPS style) that are crap and I wasn't able to kill anyone because I was aiming horribly. Understandable, as she has seen 1-2 fights and they were all lame to watch, just as all fights in EVE. Compared to LOL where it is pretty easy to understand what is going on, in EVE all you see in a fleet fight is bunch of blue and red stars and nothing happens.

I know very little about PVP, but have been playing for +1 year. I have tried to watch a few tournament matches but had no idea what was happening! I just look at the health bars and thats it.

Is it me or are others having the same issue?

My Condor kite fit is "perfect" ie its all T2 and its a mirror of all the Condor LML kite fits. My Kestrel rocket brawl fit is not T2 yet but training into it as I write.

With my Condor I always get scrammed and blapped, in my Kestrel I get kited and... (you can guess the outcome)

So I've had a new plan: Kestrel MWD only hunting for kiting Condors! Fit a Kestrel with MWD (had to play around in EFT a bit as was having powergrid issues) and headed to into FW!

On the first gate in LS (Old Man Star) saw an Algos hanging around. I knew that it was a destroyer but knew that with gateguns (if he engages first) I can blap him probably.

(If you were wondering: "Yes, I have been killed by gateguns and stationguns before in LS." Was out "hunting" a couple of months back and got raped by gateguns after engaging a neutral pilot next to a gate in my frigate! Terribad!)

So with the gateguns on my side, hopefully, I locked him and tried to "taunt" him (don't know exactly how you do that in EVE, but I hit approach). I see that he locks me too, and then starts to fire!

I web, scram and overheat the rockets. About 5 seconds into the fight I realize that he is in Caldari militia, ie a valid War Traget so no gateguns will back me up... Again you can guess the outcome: T2 Algos vs Scrammed Kestrel with MWD.

Anyway, learned my lesson!

Still not that lucky

It was a long weekend here where I live. We got to work from home on Friday and it was a national holiday
on Monday.

Most of the days went with packing and moving and various house chores, so not much time for EVE or blogging.

I played for a couple of hours quite sporadically. Mainly concentrating on FW...
Have still not killed a single ship. Which sucks... If you search up my KB (please don't!) you'll see that I have lost like ~8ships since I joined the militia.

Not much to write on about regarding my deaths. Most of the time it's me being stupid, not flying properly or being blobbed.

I did run a few plexes, so my LP is ~80K at the moment. Been looking at Fuzzwork to see how to cash out most profitably.

There are low LP cost items with high isk/LP ratios that also have low trading volume. Meaning that it would take ages before cashing out.
I'm probably going to buy navy cruiser BPCs and build the ships myself on Butcher Hentes who has PE5 :)
This seems to be the fastest and most profitable way of cashing out. ~1400ISK/LP is what the site says. Sounds good to me!

Really the easiest way to make the most isk as a noobie who doesn't want to join a big corp due to play time restrictions is joining FW and plexing. You get to have fun, meet people(even if you don't join corp with them)
Your other choice as a 1 week noobie would be to go mining in a venture and train into bigger mining ships. The training invested into mining is absolutely useless and the money you make is extremely low. Not to mention that you learn nothing about the game and you are just sitting still.

An other choice would be for you to run LVL1-2 missions. At least training is going to be useful for other EVE things but the money you make is really low. You learn how to PvE which is useful but its really not that complicated...
For people who don't have a lot of time to play and want to get instant action and make money (10min timer on a novice plex is really not that long) FW is really good!. If you want to explore or do missions you need at least 1 hour of constant playtime to be profitable and enjoy the game.Sometimes you just don't have that whole hour! Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to encourage plex farming I'm just saying that FW is a great source of revenue. Even if you start off only wanted to stab farm a plex (not even going to mention what that horrible thing is!) you will soon want to defend the plex instead of running away at first sight of danger :)

FW here I come!

So, the 24 hours past that I needed to get our of my corp and then joined Gall FW. They (should I say "we"?) are at T3, but it dipped a bit into T2 last night.

I'm comming off all smart and **** but I had no idea how it all works :) As natural I was prepared to be at war with caldari and not being able to fly to Jita. That's pretty much all I knew...

Btw! Is it possible to fly to Jita while being in Gall FW? Just with a Crow maybe?

So I got my trusty (never killed anyone with it) condor LML kite fit (with which I always get scrammed and blapped in like 5secs) and headed to the first FW zone from Dodixie: Old Man's Star. Went straight to a Novice plex and started orbiting the button (FW slang ftw!) A few caldari flew into the system at one point, but no one came into my plex. After 10mins, I got the message that I received 421 LP...
I didn't know a lot about FW but suspected that this LP amount is really low. So I read exactly how the LP payout sytems works. Turns out, with offensive plexing (going to a contested caldari system and orbiting the thing there for 10mins) you get the highest payout. Orbiting the button in your owned (gallente in this case) gives a lot less.
Exact info on payouts is here:Uni Wiki FW at the middleish...
The system in which I captured the plex was 0.42% contested, causing the really small LP payout... Terrybad on my part!

Later on the evening, I had a mirror match vs a condor. Blapped me with easy... Had and still have no idea why I lost that badly.
Then I got careless and tried my luck in a medium plex. 4 mins in some gang jumped and raped me. That was all my bad, should have never went into a medium plex and should have watched D-scan.

Got other FW fights ( me being torn apart) coming up! Along with a post on my XPath "adventures"!

Checking In

I again haven't had much time to update much. But am proud to say, that the "OMG PI" part of my past projects have been written:

From the title you could guess that I got into PI. If I remember correctly, it was actually because of Gevlon's posts about his PI and some other PI blog entries which I can't recall right now. So, as usual, I read a crazy amount and played around a bit. So quickly I got my main into skilling up for PI. Initially I started a few random planets and just did basic P0->P1 stuff. However as I read more and more I knew that a factory planet was the way to go!
I consider myself "quite good" with excel and I always enjoyed programming/excel oriented challenges so I decided to make a sheet which optimizes a factory planet for me. To make things easier I knew I wanted to do P1->P4 production.I didn't do any fancy API downloads or use EVEtoolkit data dumps, just manually input each P4 product's underlying P1 component requirement. The biggest issue was updating the P1 prices manually. Luckily the most profitable P4 didn't change at all :) (I was making Wetware Mainframes and Self-Harmonizing powercores).
To be honest, I don't really remember nor does it seem really interesting (still happy to elaborate on anything, just ask away!) but in short about my setup:
- Each P4 requires three P3s
- Each P3 requires two P2s
- Each P2 require two P1s
As a results, I had 1 adv-factory building P4, 3 adv factories building P3s, and 3*2=6 basic factories building P2s. Biggest bottleneck in the setup was sending the correct P1 from storage facilities to other storage facilities or launchpads. I don't wish to dwell into this, but I might be able to dig up my old s/s if there is interest.
Finally about the numbers! By the end (when I had optimized everything) I had 3 planets running. Two on my main and one on an alt. Two planets in Meves and one in Athinard (both one jump from Dodixie).
I tried to track my profits as best as possible and I would say that it was around 100-125MM per planet per month. Skill wise it didn't require much of training as command center upgrades Lvl4 is more than enough. On my alt I only had Lvl3, it was a bit more fiddly to set up the production, but was viable.
Even though, after filling the storages full the planet ran for ~48 hours, ut required way too much fiddling! I got burnt out quickly from all the hauling, the waiting and messing up the correct routes :)
I made nice ISK (for a solo noobie like me) but was tired of all the pressure of refilling the planets with goo :)

Can also check the whole thing here: My EVE history
On my current things:

I have started the process of moving Butcher Hentes to join Gallente FW. I failed a bit because I thought joining would take like 5 mins, but it turns out that you need 24 hours before you can leave corp if your a director... So I'm still waiting for that to happen :)
I will write about this in more detail, but I trained and read and did everything to do lowsec exploration in my little Tengu. But to be frank I find it ****. Just recently I went around in Molden Heath for a bit more than an hour and earned like 1M ISK. Didn't find a single combat site worth running. Found like 5-6 Data sites, checked their loot, all crap... No idea how Pilgrim in Exile deals with this. Anyway...

I find that I play too much of EVE industry tycoon too much so I want to force myself into PvP. I will expand on this too :)

Update

Just a note, that I have written the first segment of the My EVE History!
Please check it out and let me know what you all think...

During the weekend I didn't play a lot as was out of town visiting my GFs family.
Having a mayor toothache at the moment, so please forgive me if there are some errors or typos.

Hopefully will finish the EVE history page this week and finally get started on writing about what I'm actually doing in EVE currently!

ps: the blog seems to be getting hits from the US and Germany :) Somebody seems to be reading on his phone (android) and someone is using a MAC :O Big props to my first readers! (whoever you are)

Why do you EVE?

In my last post I said I was going to update both my EVE history and my current projects... Unfortunately I didn't have time to write those up yet.

However I wanted to share my view on why EVE might be such a unique game!

Before EVE I played WOW, LOL, SC, SC2 and Mtgo. I was totally hooked on all these games at the time. I tried EVE two times before finally subscribing. On my first two attempts I just didn't understand what the goal of the game was! In each game I played there was clear goal. Wow = Raiding (for me), Lol = ranked matches, SC = ICUP ladder, and so on...

In EVE I did the tutorial and then didn't know what to do... So I searched the net and read many guides. Still I didn't find a goal with which you can: "Win the game!" So I didn't subscribe...

My third attempt was no different to my previous two other than maybe I was a bit older :P
The only difference was that I had a goal in my mind: I wanted to make enough ISK to play EVE for free!
I didn't want to spend more money on videogames (because I'm cheap that way) and wanted to have fun for free.
Since than I have always had new ideas and goals that I want to achieve. Without goals the game is no fun! In EVE the devs don't lay the goal for you. You have to find them yourself! This is why I think EVE is such a hard, but very great game!

What go you into subscribing for the first time? What was your first goal in EVE? What keeps you motivated now!?

Getting Started

The is going to be my first ever blog post, so please bear with me.

The goal of this blog is to write about my adventures in EVE, the problems I deal with and just general tips to newbies along with my questions to my readers who play EVE.

I read quite a few EVE blogs (I will try to put them all on the blog roll) and I feel it has become quite common to categorize your EVE blog into a specific gendre ie: Industrial, Trader, Wormhole, Lowsec, Null PvP (is there any blog out there that actually is about a null sov-bloc pilot? Pls let me know!)

I do not wish to label my blog in any way other than that its going to be mainly about EVE. I have done quite a few things in EVE ranging from industry to trading to missioning and etc... My goals in this game always change and one month I might be a MoxNix trader wannabe but the next day I'm down in Nullsec ratting all day and praying I don't get hotdropped by AAA.

I want to always have my two most important pages updated:
(I have not written these up yet)

Next posts this week are going to be on why EVE is such a hard and very rewarding game.
